Over the 10 years of engagement in the educational institutions in Jamaica and collaborating with community Organizations such as BREDS foundation, the leadership in MOEYI -(Ministry of Education Youth Information)Region 5, and you, our supporters, we have introduced to over 3000 families the importance of participating in the educational experience of their child around literacy, emotional wellness, and interacting and engaging in positive talk. create school libraries, and provide books to parents to help build their home library

Six months before Hurricane Melissa, we had robust Family Educational Partner engagement in Treasure Beach and Elderslie. Over 100 families participated in a workshop on reading to their children every night, and they received 2-4 books to start their home library
Six months before Hurricane Melissa, nine schools participated in professional development seminars and workshops on the science of reading. The initiative of getting our youngest students master phonemic Awareness and Phonics before Grade 1
24 months before Hurricane Melissa, parents and children participated in a book exchange program and workshops on reading at home each night.
The Clinic Library was created and the program is LiFE's commitment to helping parents help their children learn to read

Principals and teachers are reporting extensive water damage to classroom furniture because of damage to the roof. 100% of the schools we serve are without electricity, water, internet, and road access due to damage

Teaching and learning are affected. 100% of the educational staff is without electricity, water, and internet. Some of the teachers reported damage to their homes. Teaching and Learning are on hold.

One hundred percent of our teachers and parents are without electricity, water, and internet access. 95% of families in 2 communities are homeless, workless, and marooned because of road damage or debris
The families in this region of Jamaica are farmers, and they have lost their crops, livestock, and cattle.
